Cannes France and Plastic Wine Bottles with WineChannelTV at TFWA
When I think of France, amazing food, yachts, and great wine comes to mind, but not from plastic bottles. However, that’s exactly what I found while in Cannes in between yacht hopping for meetings and had to find out more!
I attended the largest duty free show, TFWA, in beautiful Cannes, France last week. The show was amazing. There were yachts and about 4 floors in one convention center featuring all of the duty free items you could imagine and typically see in airports, including some of my favorites like chocolate, perfume and wine.
One company that caught my eye was Paul Sapin. For the past 16 years, they’ve been making plastic wine bottles in an effort to essentially go “green.” Recently, they’ve revamped the quality of their bottle to allow the wine to “last” for around 1-2 years using new plastic technology known as MLP PET. I have yet to try the wine, but according to Thierry, whom I met with, plastic wine bottles are huge in the Dublin Ireland airport and throughout Sweden.
If any of you have tried a QUALITY wine from a plastic bottle, let me know, I’d love to hear your input.
