Frederick Wildman and Sons with WineChannelTV at Chicago Gourmet
I met with Frederick Wildman and Sons at Chicago Gourmet in Millenium Park earlier this year, and had the chance to learn a little more about this legendary wine importer. Martin Sinkoff, the Fine Wine Director, took some time to meet with me, taste wine and share some fun facts such as how Frederick Wildman is the oldest wine importer in the US and has been around since 1934.
As stated on their site, “Frederick S. Wildman, a Connecticut-born wine connoisseur, bought Bellows and Co., a wine importer and fine-food emporium. That same year Wildman traveled to Europe’s finest vineyards to pursue suppliers and to grow his importing business. Within a short time, Wildman signed on some of France’s finest wine producers, many still in Frederick Wildman’s portfolio today.”
One wine they were featuring was a Paul Jaboulet Crozes Hermitage Les Jalets , which technically is 100% Syrah as Martin points out in the video. It had a wonderful earthiness with nice depth and runs about $25. Martin also spoke about targeting millenials and how they’re always looking for more information and content is key- I agree!
Watch WineChannelTV in action and let me know your thoughts if you’ve tried any of these wines!
