Sip Some Austria on The Danube River in Wachau Valley
Wine Channel TV cruises down the Danube River.
UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Wachau Valley
The “Sip Some Austria” tour continues as Jessica Altieri, CEO and host of Wine Channel TV, cruises down the Danube River with Christine Emberger of Wachau Schifffahrt. The ship cruises through the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Wachau Valley, one of the most beautiful and breathtaking stretches of river valley in Europe. The Wachau Valley vineyards are primarily grown along river-side terraces featuring unique soil and climate conditions. The influence of the Danube River produces a mix of warm and cool breezes. The Krems Valley wine region extends on both sides of the Danube River around the charming old wine town of Krems. Wine has been grown in the region around Krems for centuries—known as the eastern gateway to the Wachau Valley. The Krems area and Wachau Valley are some of the oldest wine regions in Austria. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling grapes grow in soils of primordial rock, creating very spirited wines with mineral flavor notes. The Wachau Schifffahrt ship sails between Krems and Melk, passing enchanting scenes of medieval castles, charming villages, ornate abbeys and world-class vineyards. Take in the romantic sights from the ship’s open decks and take in the beauty of Melk, Schönbühel Castle and the town of Dürnstein its castle and pastel blue church tower. The ship’s onboard dining spoils guests with regional delights and local wine selections. Stay tuned to Wine Channel TV for more exclusive “Sip Some Austria” featured videos. Prost!
