Summer Wines with Wine ChannelTV and Tapena at Mercadito Chicago

A great summer wine for under $10 is hard to find. Tapena is a perfect go-to wine for a hot summer day, and won’t cost you a fortune to get.

I recently visited Mercadito Restaurant in Chicago for the Grab A Fork! Tapena Wine event. They’re traveling across the country promoting Tapena Wines and doing it in a fun way.

The unique word “tapena” is actually a combination of the words tapas and pena which means a group of friends. Besides the catchy name, Tapena is doing all the little things right and has delicious wine to back it up. At the event, they had some of the coolest free marketing give aways I’ve seen in a while, from Grab a Fork t-shirts, glitter pens and tattoos, to magnets.

As well, their site rocks. Along with the usual wine descriptions, there’s specific recipes for each varietal, tips on how to throw a great tapas party, and more. The Rose was my favorite of the night. It was a hot day, and this refreshing Garnacha, Monastrell, Shiraz Spanish blend had delicious strawberry aromas.

The cherry, citrus, and strawberry flavors in this crisp wine makes it a great pairing for a smokey eggplant and fresh tomato salad, as they recommend on their website. For right under $10, this dry summer wine is a steal!

Watch WineChannelTV at super chic Mercadito with Tapena to see what this wine is all about!

Cheers,

JustJess
