Are you looking for a wine to WOW your next date and get your summer off on the right sip? How about a wine made from a 120 year old vine in Australia that’s so velvety smooth you’ll want to drink the bottle on the spot. Trust me .
I had the pleasure of enjoying this St.Hallett Winery Old Block Shiraz gem from the Barossa Valley at the lovely Peninsula Hotel terrace in Chicago.
When I first saw this wine, I wasn’t too sure how good something that old could be. But, this turned out to be the winner of the day ! I was standing with some other certified sommeliers and we were discussing what type of baked fruit pie it smelled like…we agreed on blackberry, blueberry and with a hint of vanilla. Is your mouth watering yet!?
At around $90-100, this is definitely a perfect date wine you would enjoy at a fine hotel like the Peninsula with a nice juicy steak to compliment the juiciness of the wine.
Take a look at WineChannelTV at The Peninsula and see for yourself this gem of a wine!
Cheers,
JustJess
