William Hill Estate Winery brought out the best for the Wine Channel TV Mark Williams Tasting Event at Chicago’s Quartino Ristorante on July 19, 2016. With roots deeply anchored in the Napa Valley, William Hill Estate (www.williamhillestate.com) crafts luxury Chardonnay and Bordeaux varietal wines from vineyards of California’s most celebrated regions. Beginning with William Hill Estate’s 140-acre benchland vineyard near the Silverado Trail, Winemaker Mark Williams turns to the hidden corners of southern Napa, the North Coast and the Central Coast to create a unique collection of rich, expressive wines.
Hosted by Wine Channel TV’s Jessica Altieri, this VIP tasting experience transpired as truly remarkable with five flights of William Hill Estate wines, an exquisite custom glass for each guest, and a perfectly paired six-course wine dinner prepared by the Executive Chef and Culinary Olympic Gold Medalist, John Coletta of Quartinos. Quartino Ristorante & Wine Bar, a highly-acclaimed downtown Chicago restaurant and wine bar, set the mood with elegant vintage décor and authentic Italian flavors. The VIP tasting experience was attended by many notable wine connoisseurs and top influencers around the Chicago area: Chicago Food Blogger Erin Byrne (@312food), Wine and Food Blogger Emily Weinstein (@weinanddine), Chop Shop Restaurant General Manager Sarah Neukom, CBS Anchor and Foodie Marissa Bailey, “Outstanding Women in America” Award-Winner and Founder of MarCon Communications Margaret J. Celebrity chef, restaurateur, and author John Coletta introduced the meal with a white bean garlic spread, roasted beet and walnut salad, pancetta-wrapped dates, salumeria, and caprese. The first flight, a round and balanced William Hill Estate 2015 North Coast Sauvignon Blanc, was paired with a savory roasted baby octopus. The second flight treated guests to the luxurious William Hill Estate 2014 Napa Valley Chardonnay paired with farmhouse chicken flavored with lemon and herbs. Next, guests sampled the crisp William Hill Estate 2013 Napa Valley Bench Blend Chardonnay paired with a cavatelli pasta dish flavored with tomatoes, fresh basil, and ricotta. For the fourth flight, chef John Coletta paired the rich, intense 2013 Napa Valley Bench Blend Cabernet Sauvignon with a robust braised pork ravioli, speck, and fava beans. The last flight of the evening, a full-bodied, luscious 2013 Napa Valley Benchland Series Cabernet Sauvignon, was paired with tender pork shank. Coletta wrapped up the meal on the sweet note of classic Italian zeppole with chocolate and honey dipping sauces.
Following Quartino and William Hill Estate Winery’s rock-star dinner, guests enjoyed a question and answer session with Winemaker Mark Williams and Wine Channel TV Host Jessica Altieri.
