WineChannelTV gets a Sip and Taste Of Chicago
Wine at the Taste of Chicago ? Yes, it was there, but I wanted more !
The Gallo Wine Garden was not the best display of a wine garden I’ve seen. For such a big event as the Taste of Chicago, why wouldn’t there be more than just GALLO provided? I am a supporter of Gallo, but after spending $10 for a mini-glass of their Premium wine, I was not feeling the “wine” love ! Even the Specialty Beer Garden had more variety, with choices such as Bass Pale Ale, Beck’s, Stella Artois and more.
Taste of Chicago has to step up their wine game. I realize the event is called the TASTE of Chicago and is known for its food. But, food needs an accompaniment and especially on a hot day. An upside to the event, was they managed to bring some big Food Network stars, like Mario Batali, to the event that drew pretty large crowds.
Besides picking up the wine game, the food overall was sub par in comparison to other years. The highlight of my day was the Corn on the Cob, which went great with my Gallo Pinot Grigio, and a juicy Watermelon slice I got right when I walked in…and it was from a Chicago grocery store stand.
I just have one last question for the Taste of Chicago- Do you realize how many wine lovers attend the event and may want something besides a beer or just one type of wine? I would love to hear how you’re planning to change the event for next year, and I’ll be the first to promote it !
Take a look at WineChannelTV to see the few highlights of the Taste of Chicago, and if you’ve ever attended I’d love to hear your thoughts !
