Wal-Mart Alice White Chardonnay goes down well with WineChannelTV and Nascar
Calling all Wal-Mart wine shoppers, have any of you noticed common themes among their wines? Such as animal names and mascots ( Lucky Duck, Monkey Bay, Little Penguin…) and a LOT of south eastern Australian varietals ? What’s up with that?
Either way the wines have been so far, shockingly, not bad! The Alice White Chardonnay 2008 from South Eastern Australia made it’s way into my glass the other day and I was expecting this to be a “down-the-drainer” at only $5.97 a bottle.
The light pear, almond and crisp green apple notes got me intrigued ; the flavors were very tropical with a kick of acidity at the end. This is not like your typical California butterball Chardonnay at all.
Yet, it got better by the second glass. I would give this wine 2.5 stars and would actually think about getting it again . I mean at around 5 bucks, you can’t go wrong especially on a hot day or with a nice grilled chicken .
