San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition 2015 is a WOW
6000+ wines makes the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition the largest wine competition in the USA. It’s a challenge 60+ judges have undertaken at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair in Cloverdale, California this week. Bob Fraser, chairman of the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition once again pulled together a “perfect pairing” of judges to find the best of the best in North America.
Judges from across the US are grouped together in panels and taste a few hundred wines each day, culminating into the Sweepstakes round which takes place on Friday morning.
A highlight of the week, is the annual Judges dinner which this year took place at Francis Ford Coppola Winery, In attendance, none other than Francis Ford Coppola and his wife, Eleanor for a sit down, “La Tavola” style family dinner. It was the ultimate “wine experience”, dining in the barrel room and getting to experience the vision Coppola had for the winery: “a wine wonderland, a park of pleasure where people of all ages can enjoy all the best things in life – food, wine, music, dancing, games, swimming and performances of all types. A place to celebrate the love of life.”
You can check on the award winners this Friday at winejudging.com and SFGate.com. Wine Channel TV will highlight award winning wines in an upcoming episode and feature in the coming weeks. In addition, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition stages a public tasting at Fort Mason in San Francisco on February 14, 2015. Wine Channel TV lifestyle host Jessica Altieri will be onsite for the event; so be sure to stop by and share a sip of some award winning wines! Cheers!
